NovoSPT (SPT Correlation Software)
This state-of-the-art software program is also fully integrated with gINT, Winlog, LogPlot and GeoSystem's LD4 suite of products.
SPT is the most widely used in-situ geotechnical test in the world. Geotechnical engineers have always been looking for correlations of SPT with soil properties. The problem raises when we get used to using one formula for correlation and forget about it's limitations and validity of the resulted numbers. To have a comprehensive understanding of how to use these formulas we need to compare as many as possible correlations, remove those methods which are not applicable to our project (or soil type) and get an engineering average of the selected methods. We have developed NovoSPT to help you overcome this steps!
NovoSPT is designed for correlating Standard Penetration Test (SPT/ DCPT) blow counts (N60) and estimation of more than 25 geotechnical engineering soil properties based on more than 165 equations and formulas extracted from 45 geotechnical books and papers. The following features are part of the incorporated capabilities in NovoSPT program (download FREE trial version to explore more):
NovoLiq (Liquefacation Analysis Software)
Evaluation of liquefaction hazard is an engineering art requiring judgment and experience in addition to testing and analysis. Important advances have been made during the past few decades in developing tools to help assess the potential of liquefaction, but some aspect of the problem remain uncertain. A wide variety of methods from well respected researchers and practitioners have been implemented in NovoLiq to carry out the the liquefaction analysis.
This state-of-the-art software program is also fully integrated with gINT, Winlog, LogPlot and GeoSystem's LD4 suite of products. NovoLiq has been designed to cover 9 world-wide known liquefaction analysis methods for calculating Cyclic Resistance Ratio (CRR):
Japanese Highway's Bridge Code
Chinese Code
Seed et al. (1983)
Tokimatsu and Yoshimi (1983)
Shibata (1981)
Kokusho et al. (1983)
Vancouver Task Force (2007 Canada)
NCEER Workshop (1997 United States)
Boulanger and Idriss, 2004
As part of our policy for respecting our customers, NovoLiq gives you options for choosing analysis methods among all available recommended formulae (please see analysis methods for details). NovoLiq supports the following field tests for liquefaction triggering:
Standard Penetration Test (SPT)
Becker Penetration Test (BPT)
Shear Wave Velocity (Vs)
VisLog (Borehole Log Visualization Software)
Using VisLog, the user will be able to enter borehole information including but not limited to their depth, coordinates, ground water level, etc. and have a three dimensional interactive view of the underground subject project. The ultimate aim of VisLog is to help users with making an image of the soil layers close to real condition.
Input data can be taken from gINT, the most widely used borehole log software in the world. Also user could enter data using internal test-hole editor. When the model is built upon the borehole information provided by user, the 3-dimensional model can rotate, zoom in/out, print and even saved as graphic formats.
With intelligent engine of VisLog, generating soil profiles between boreholes is as easy as 1-2-3. VisLog can even be used for ground improvement projects to visualize the results. The developers of VisLog have presented a paper in GeoHalifax conference (2009) regarding a ground improvement project in Canada which was processed using VisLog.
BeamProps (Beam Section Properties Software)
BeamProps is a simple software for calculating the beam section properties like area, moment of inertia, radius of gyration, etc for about 25 sections and shapes. You just need to select the geometrical shape of the beam cross section and enter dimensions. All the following parameters are automatically presented as a table:
Area (A)
Moment of Inertia (Ix,Iy,Ixy)
Radius of Gyration (rx,ry)
Center of Mass (Xc,Yc,X'c,Y'c)
Plastic Section Modulus (Zx,Zy)
Shape Factor (SFx,SFy)
Other parameters: a, q , I'x, I'y, Yc1, Yc2
LateralK (Lateral Earth Pressure Coefficient Program)
LateralK is a simple software for calculating lateral earth pressure coefficients behind retaining walls in static and earthquake condition. The following features are incorporated into LateralK program:
Rankine formulae for static condition, including Active earth pressure and Passive earth pressure coefficient (Ka, Kp)
Coulomb formula for static condition, including Active earth pressure and Passive earth pressure coefficient (Ka, Kp)
Jaky formula for At-rest earth pressure coefficient
Mononobe-Okabe formula for earthquake condition, including Active earth pressure and Passive earth pressure coefficient (Kae, KPe)
Earthquake Kae and Kpe
Lateral earth pressure coefficients for earthquake conditions are calculated and presented based on horizontal and vertical ground accelerations (av,ag). Therefore in LateralK program for ease of use, Kae and Kpe are calculated for every 0.05g step of av and ag as tables. Please see screenshots for more clarifications. This way, User can find Kae and Kpe for all practical combination of av and ag. Online documentation describes more details.
Reporting
All tables can be exported as text file. A report is also prepared summarizing all input data and assumptions along with output parameters (lateral earth pressure coefficients).
